The seeds that the we planted last week were an organic mixture of hungarian vetch, crimson clover and ryegrass. Green manure is a cover crop put on bare soil for protection
and when in bloom can attract an array of butterflies, bees and plenty of other little creatures. Furthermore, coming to the end of it's cycle, it can then be cut down and dug back into the soil, feeding it as a natural fertiliser, with lots of beneficial nutrients such as nitrogen.
All that is needed to plant these seeds is a patch of soil, some budding little gardeners and good Irish weather !!!
